Stage 1 of the lighting upgrade completed.

Well the replacement tube (to replace the one that was broken during delivery) arrived today from Swell (aquamedic 39 watt plant tube), so Gadget and myself installed it with the T5 controler.  It doesn’t look that bright until you turn it off, and then you notice the difference it makes!  It makes a big difference!!

The colors look a lot more vivid, and the back of the tank is considerably brighter!  Definitely good so far, now to see what difference it makes to the plants.

Next stage will be to add another T5 tube, this time a broad spectrum daylight one, to the front of the tank.

    Looks great, it’s not easy keeping a planted tank looking good.

    Thanks, doesn’t look like that these days though. We now have a 4×39 watt luminaire on there and replanted it. It now looks even better.
